Glad I didn’t buy mine as an investment.

Wow, cheaper than I would’ve thought!
I know it’s less practical, comfortable, etc, etc.....I’d still have the Abarth :P

I considered one, but the cutesy looks kind of turned me off. And that it just isn’t as good.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

The ST’s have some of the most godawful re-sale value. And they’re hard to sell so I ended up trading mine in. I’ve thought about putting up a poll on the ST page I’m in to see how many guys ended up trading in and how many were able to sell privately.

No one wants to buy a sporty car from a guy in his 20's.

That and people buy from dealers for the convenience.
Prices like that FiST really makes me want to grab another ST.

And Ford finances pretty much anybody with a down payment. So buying new is easier. That’s part of the reason I went new, that and....I didn’t want to buy a sporty car from a male in his 20's.

Oh trust me, I’m with you. I’ll gladly pay the premium to get in a new car over a slightly used one. Depending on the car.
If I was looking at a new Corvette but Carmax had a sweet F-Type, same price with a warranty, I would probably sway for the F-Type.

But having a second one around as a rally car would be fun. Actually, just a standard Fiesta might be fun for that.

Lol that was my idea when I saw that price. I did a lot of auto-x’ing in my Focus ST but only went once in the Camaro. It kind of sucked.
And I’ve always wanted to do the rally cross events the SCCA chapter here puts on. Mostly because they do them through the winter, which is when my life gets too boring.

Oppo fourvalleys has done rallycross in his FiST on frozen lakes in WI, and it kicked ass. I rode along for a run, it handled awesome and set some really good times.

Wow. I didn’t realize that you can buy a 2 year old FOST for about half of its original price. That is German luxury car levels of depreciation.

MSRP on a FIST is under 21k and being a Ford, most were probably purchased for $19k or so. $5500 depreciation for 2 years and 34000 miles on the car is pretty normal.

How is this cheap? Brand new FiST MSRP is under $21000, I’d say you can buy them for under $19k all day long brand new. This one is 2 years old and has 34000 miles on it - 2000 miles away from the warranty expiration. Buy this car and an extended warranty for $15000, or a brand new one for $16500-17500, there are a ton of them on cars.com

I didn’t look at FiST. On a FOST, it looks like run 28-30 MSRP when equipped the way you want. I figure kids are paying 25ish for them, and it looks like 2014 models with around 30k on them sell for 12-16. That is still pretty spectacular.
Back when I was young, dumb and didn’t really have any other living expenses to speak of, I bought a new vehicle and traded it in a year later. I did lose around 5k on the deal, but that was on a 40k truck.

The FoST isn’t that much more. That’s one reason I’m seriously considering swapping my BRZ for one. I could come close to even on the trade.

Ah, I missed the FoST part - I figured we were talking about the FiST as that was the car in the OP.

True. I tend to think of the ST cars as interchangeable (puts flame suit on). It does look like an FiST is a slightly better degree of bad investment.

I’m in the market for anFiSt and I have eyed that one. If it had Recaros I would be pretty interested in one.
My preference though is a Kona blue, with orange Recaros, which is hard to find. Also I am probably a couple of months from being able to pull the trigger.
It looks like orange will be the only fun color on the 17's which is kind of a bummer.

I could see myself buying a FiST one day, but for now, my Abarth Convertible - purchased almost new, with 6k miles on the clock for $10000 under MSRP - is fun/bad enough of a decision :)

Also it’s a neon green, non-recaro model. And the 2014's won’t get updated to Android Auto so a lot of people are avoiding them.

A while, maybe forever. Kind of like the 4Runner, by the time I get my use out of it, it’ll be worthless and I’ll be attached. I’m quite fond of it.

Just be warned, the paint quality is terrible. It looks great but breathing on it scratches it and feathers will chip it. Mine looks like it has been sanded, and I only use microfiber to clean it.

Not that I’m trying to copy you too much.. But a FiST would make an even better compliment to my second gen 4Runner than my E36 Compact does.

Wtf, I looked at these in the beginning of 2016 and they were trying to get me to buy a 2015 at msrp. I wasn’t head over heels with it, but would have done it if they gave me that price jesus. Must be a regional thing, I just did a quick search on cars.com and used ones in southeast mi are listed at 17-19k with around 20k mi on them.

I just did a random search on Cars.com - no real research. I do rememeber people posting Focus ST for $19k, so Fiesta mist be cheaper. Hell, for this price difference, fly to wherever and pick up your car.
I bought a 2014 FIAT 500 Abarth Convertible GQ edition in SLC over the phone, email and regular mail, flew there with my friend and drove it back. It was a blast of a road trip, and I saved many thousands of dollars versus Denver pricing.

Meh, I ended up buying an 1999 540i 6spd. Still have my SVT Focus too. The torque in the Fiesta ST is nice, but I really enjoy the high revving Zetec-R. Plus 3 door hatchbacks look better than 5 door.
